First, I just want to thank you for taking the time to read through my post and share your feedback. You are obviously 100% correct in saying SEO isn’t just about Google and Bing. To be completely transparent, this article was sparked by a UX-based conversation I had with a friend. We were talking about the inherent value of UX as a service and he mentioned, “It’s like SEO. It’s not like you can pay for five ‘SEOs’ and then magically see your rank increase by five.”
As you can probably tell, I have little-to-no practical experience with SEO, which is why I tried to keep my perspective at a fairly high level. I was simply using it to draw a parallel. I do love your point about the importance behind gather both qualitative AND quantitative data regarding SEO; this can obviously be applied to most, if not all, industries.
In the future, I fully intended on linking/citing sources when taking a deeper dive into a specific industry or topic. Thanks again for your feedback!
