  1. In the beginning, I introduced journaling into my routine for its own sake, but as I continued, I definitely noticed an impact on the rest of my daily writing. Journaling serves as a very brief warm up before I go into longer writing sessions for articles and my book.
  2. Personally, I think it depends on how the person defines “small.” When I initially chose 5 minutes, I figured it would be easy to carve out at least this much time each morning. Since I’ve been doing so for several months, I’m considering increasing the time. I always suggest small, actionable steps that eventually add up (essentially micro-habits). I also think it’s hard to really grasp the benefits before starting. Journaling is one of those activities where you don’t really understand the benefits until after you’ve been actively doing it for a while.
