When I graduated college back in 2011, I had absolutely no idea what I wanted to do with the rest of my life.

What I did know is that I wanted to figure things out on my own.

So, I did what any newly minted college grad does — I started freelancing full time.

The next seven years were jam-packed with ups, downs, and a constant stream of uncertainty. For most of it, it was more stressful than an episode of Euphoria.

Somehow, during one of the craziest periods of freelancing, I fumbled into one of the smartest decisions of my professional life.

After deciding to design my own app, I picked up a book that changed everything. The Sprint book by Jake Knapp, John Zeratsky, and Braden Kowitz quickly became my Bible and my introduction into the world of human-centered design, design sprints, and the UX industry in general.

After learning the five steps of the design thinking process on my own, I started applying it to client apps and even used it to find a technical co-founder for a separate company we started.
